Seven Pioneer National Honors Society students received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training from Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA). Kathleen Bobula-Salazar, Brooklynn Case, Ashley Ellis, William Houk, Kylee Krause-Mays, Vanessa Tran and Maggie Uzzell all earned CPR certification through a class in Reno.

The training, sponsored through the Pioneer Honor Society, helps students be prepared to enter the workforce with safety certifications. The Basic Life Support (BLS) training, presented by Reno REMSA instructors Krys Peka and Tia Speirs, is geared for healthcare professionals and is more compressive than the Heart Savers course that is used to train general community members.

After completing the five-hour course, students took a written and physical test to earn the CPR certification. In addition to taking the course and earning a certification in CPR, the students were given a tour of the REMSA Emergency facility to see how the emergency vehicles are stocked and maintained.
