This week the senior in the spotlight is Jacob Budd. Jacob is an excellent student and member of the Carson High School and Carson City community. He is dedicated to his studies and improving the lives of those around him.

Jacob has excelled in school from a young age. Throughout middle and high school, he has maintained a 4.0 GPA. He will graduate with well over a 5.0. He has continuously challenged himself by taking the most rigorous courses Carson High School has to offer.

As a member of the Carson High School community, Jacob participated in several activities. He was a four-year tennis player, acting as team captain in the 2023 season. He has been part of National Honor Society the past two years, serving as secretary during the 2023-2024 school year. Jacob has also served as a Blue Crew member, mentoring incoming freshmen and new students for the past three years.

Outside of school, Jacob is an active member of his church and Boy Scouts of America. Both organizations have given him the opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful way. Through his church, Jacob donates time working with Toys for Tots and local food drives. With scouts, he earned his Eagle Scout rank with his project at the Carson River Park, where he worked to clean up the park and update the signs and tables.

Jacob has big plans for his future. He will head to Utah this fall to begin his college career at Brigham Young University. He is unsure of what he wants to study, but has been inspired by Mr. Macy at CHS and is leaning toward literature. He plans to serve in a mission after his first semester of college. Carson High School is proud of Jacob and can’t wait to see what his future holds. Good luck Jacob!
